Julia Titlebaum, therapist

Welcome to En Pointe Counseling! My name is Julia Teitelbaum, and I am a licensed clinical social worker with over a decade of practical experience in the clinical social work field. In 2010, I graduated from the University of Washington in Seattle with a Master’s degree in Social Work and a focus in private practice. Since then, I have worked with children, teens, adults, families, and couples in diverse capacities including individual and family sessions, social skills groups, schools, and hospital social work.

About Me

My approach to clinical therapy involves communicating with clients through a feminist, social justice, and trauma-informed lens.

What does that mean?

People seek therapy to create change, find new direction, and self-evolve. I sincerely believe that all humans desire equality, love, respect, safety, security, freedom, and connection. During sessions with me, I not only think about the relationship you have with yourself or other individuals, but also your relationship with society, including how you may be affected by trauma, inequality, power and privilege, racism, sexism, ableism, the climate, and so much more. Combining these considerations generates the possibilities for a new outlook on our lives.

Methods

Emotion identification is essential to talk therapy; however, in my practice I also utilize cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) which focuses on how thoughts, behaviors, and emotions are all interconnected and how sometimes that relationship negatively impacts us and causes suffering.

I believe that each client is unique and requires a tailored approach to achieve the essential client-therapist rapport that ultimately leads to positive change. My areas of research and interest include: anxiety related disorders, phobias, family/parenting, relationships/intimacy, LGBTQI+ issues, perinatal mood disorders, grief, and trauma including medical trauma.

I provide in office appointments, teletherapy appointments, as well as walk and talk appointments at the Ridgefield Parks and Recreation center outdoors when the weather allows. Please note that with walk and talk therapy total privacy cannot be guaranteed.
